Goomalling has nine councillors who are elected for a four year term. They are all passionate about the town and district and take an active roll in planning the development and future direction the town needs to adopt to guarantee it's sustainability into the future.

The council employ 26 staff including trainees and apprentices; a good working relationship exists with all sporting bodies and community groups. Landcare, Community Development and Sport and Recreation have been identified as priority areas and officers have been appointed to develop and manage plans to enhance the environment and quality of life for the residents and visitors.
