Education and Training

Goomalling has education and training opportunities for people of all ages. 

Age 0-5

Playgroup runs from 9.30-11.30am each Tuesday during school term at the rear of Goomalling Primary School. Storytime at the Telecentre library runs from 10.30-11am each Friday. The toy library has a range of fun and educational toys for children aged up to seven years old. The Goomalling Gumnuts Childcare Centre is open from Tuesday to Friday (9629 1188).

Kindergarten to year 7 (age 4 -12)

High school (age 12-17)

School buses run from Goomalling to Northam Senior High School and St Josephs School, Northam. Dowerin District High School, 20 minutes from Goomalling, has classes up to year 10.

Tertiary students

Studying externally at university or TAFE? Exam supervision can be arranged for you at the Goomalling Telecentre.

In Northam, just 30 minutes drive from Goomalling, the CY O’Connor College of TAFE offers a wide range of qualifications including automotive, building and general civil construction, information technology and business. Also in Northam is the Curtin University of Technology School of Agriculture and Environment (formerly Muresk Institute) which offers courses in agribusiness, biosciences and environmental biology.

The Cunderdin College of Agriculture is about 50 minutes drive from Goomalling and offers high school, as well as tertiary qualifications in agriculture, manufacturing, automotive and construction.

Traineeships and apprenticeships

Local businesses employ trainees and apprentices, as do employers in nearby towns such as Northam, Toodyay, Dowerin and Wongan Hills which are all within 30 minutes drive.

All ages

Our Telecentre has a library, computer and internet access, and hosts courses including computing and digital photography. Other courses and workshops are held in Goomalling from time to time; so check the events archive to see what’s coming up.
