Shire of Goomalling was recognised for the successful youth event #GoomaTownFest in the 2018 Children’s Environment and Health Local Government Policy Awards ceremony, winning the category “Young People Making a Difference in Communities” for the second consecutive year.

Saturday 14 April we celebrated Youth Week WA with a series of activities to challenge, inspire and invoke a sense of euphoria that can only be felt when you’re getting messy. 64 young tributes entered the Hunger Maze, sacrificing themselves willingly to the onslaught of paint and goo.

Avongro Inc is trialing the effect on native timber crops on saline land, when pre-treated with Frankia, a nitrogen-fixing bacteria that lives in symbiosis with some plants letting them grow in soils that are saline, low in nutrients, have extreme pH or even heavy metal pollution.
