If you own a dog, you must collect and remove all droppings that they leave in a public place such as a park, on a footpath or a dog exercise area, including the Goomalling Recreation Ground. Dog poo is offensive to others walking and enjoying our public, open spaces; and it can cause health issues, such as spreading disease and infections to other dogs.

LOCAL GOVERNMENT ORDINARY POSTAL ELECTION NOTICE OF RESULTS Shire of Goomalling

A Dumbleyung farmer took delivery of some farming supplies sent from rural Victoria. The goods were sent to Goomalling, collected by the farmer, and taken back to the Dumbleyung farm. The farmer then discovered four hibernating queen European wasps hiding in the delivered goods. These queens have now been destroyed. As a consequence of this discovery, we will bey setting up a trapping grid around the towns in an effort to stop any potential establishment of EW in these regions. This will occur around December this year and will be monitored through to June/July 2023. Attached is some information on how the trapping surveillance works.

The new and standardised Australian Fire Danger Rating System (AFDRS) comes into effect 1 September 2022. It is important that all residents understand what they mean and how they affect those who use fire.

Roads works will be on Gabby Quoi Quoi Road (SLK 10.41) for culvert replacement between Northam-Pithara Road and Bybering Road junctions; and the junction of Eaton & Hoddy Streets.

More Western Australian businesses and premises will be required to maintain contact registers to further strengthen WA’s contact tracing capabilities, should it be required.

Our community has been invited to take part in a state-wide survey collecting data to help local communities like ours to recover and thrive following the COVID-19 outbreak in Australia. This is a collaboration between State Government and 139 Local Governments across Western Australia. Remarkable times call for remarkable collaboration. We are stronger when we work together.

The Goomalling Bike Plan 2020-2030 was adopted by Council at their special meeting on 29 April 2020. The plan highlights gaps in our current provision of shared path network compared to contemporary standards as well as other opportunities to enhance user experience.

Each of the seven shires along the Pioneers' Pathway have identified a site of local historical significance that tells a local "story". Funding has been received for new branded signage and interpretation depicting these stories along the Pioneers' Pathway self drive trail.

We are pleased to inform you that the Shire of Goomalling has been successful in securing grant funding for the design and construction of new shared pathways on sections of Bowen Street and High Street as part of the Goomalling New Pathways Program

We are very disappointed to report that entire patches of the remarkable and rare Blood Spider Orchids have been dug up in the Konnongorring area. Sadly, it was not one plant but all of the orchids in the vicinity that were stolen without consideration of the consequence that we may never see these orchids again!

Recently, there have been a number of incidents including vandalism of the town hall and verbal abuse of Council staff running the youth activities. The incidents have escalated to a point where Council is now concerned for the safety and welfare of our staff. Therefore, it is with regret that we announce the suspension of youth zone services indefinitely.

National On-Farm Emergency Water Infrastructure Rebate by the Department of Water and Environment Regulation, offers rebates for purchase and installation of on-farm stock water infrastructure. Water infrastructure purchased and installed after 30 June 2018 is eligible and can be claimed retrospectively.

Wendy Williams was one of the worthy recipients of this year’s WA Volunteer of the Year Awards winning the category “Lifetime Contribution to Volunteering”. The Shire of Goomalling congratulate Wendy on this prestigious and well deserved accolade and thank her for her contributions through volunteering and for her commitment to our community, our region and beyond.
