WA Governor visits Goomalling

On Tuesday 21 July Goomalling hosted His Excellency Dr Ken Michael AC Governor of Western Australia and Mrs Michael.

His Excellency Dr Michael, Mrs Bird, Mrs Michael and Goomalling Shire President Cr Bird at the Railway StationThe party arrived at the Goomalling Railway Station at 12 noon to enjoy a delicious luncheon of finger food. The informal buffet style function was chosen to ensure the Governor had the opportunity to chat with all the invited guests. Along with the Shire of Goomalling Councillors, invited guests included representatives from St John’s Ambulance Goomalling Sub Centre and the Goomalling Lions Club.

Shire President Cr John Bird welcomed His Excellency and Mrs Michael and gave a brief overview of the Goomalling community’s recent achievements. His Excellency responded noting the enormous contribution of volunteers in the community and congratulated Goomalling, acknowledging the many projects completed and in progress.

Following lunch the party did a short tour of the town beginning with the Goomalling Community Centre, followed by the Primary School, Slater Homestead and the Hospital. Mystique Maison accommodated them for the evening and the next morning they departed for Wyalkatchem to continue their Wheatbelt tour.
