Over $8,000 paid for our rubbish

23-09-2009
Recently Simms Metals Group came to the Goomalling tip and took away 133.5 tonnes of light gauge metal and disused or wrecked cars.

The $8,000 from Simms Metals Group will go towards the bulldozer, loader and backhoe operations that keep the tip site in reasonable order. This money would otherwise have to come from ratepayers. Well done to the many people who are separating their rubbish at the Goomalling refuse site. By separating your waste, Council is able to recycle some of it for the benefit of the community.

Many people also use the recycling service generously provided by the Goomalling Lions Club. Funds raised from your recycling efforts are put back into the region through donations to Goomalling Primary School, Sacred Heart School, Dowerin District High School, Bolgart Primary School, Calingiri Primary School, Goomalling Hospital, Goomalling St John Ambulance Sub Centre and various other community and sporting groups in Goomalling.

So remember, by recycling, we are helping the environment, our community and ourselves financially. So what can be reused or recycled in Goomalling? Read on to find out.
