Visitors' comments

Visitors often sing the praises of Goomalling and, as in the examples below, the Caravan Park in particular.

“We are a couple of ‘Pom Pensioners’ who for the last four years have been living and travelling the country in a motorhome on a retirement visa. Thankfully immigration have just extended our visa for a further four years. Anyway, it was decided, having previously spent a few days in Goomalling, to stay for 16 days before heading north towards Darwin. The prolonged stay was primarily to see more of the Goomalling area, await incoming mail and attend the Anzac Day Dawn Service.

The shops, the café and railway station (lunches) provided us with good service and great meals. Being a ‘NOMAD’ you tend to be a little frugal with the pennies so all meals were regarded as VFM (value for money). We took the opportunity, along with Brian and Elaine Guthrie, to plan an enjoyable game of bowls on the Sunday. Please thank the library staff for their assistance and friendliness.

To conclude we sing the praises of Brian and Elaine Guthrie for their stalwart efforts to maintain the caravan park to a high standard. Furthermore, their friendly attitude and welcome to travellers/campers makes it all worthwhile. The enjoyable weekly get-together for the sausage sizzle and morning tea provided by Elaine must also be mentioned! So it goes without saying ‘we would not hesitate to recommend Goomalling/caravan park to fellow travellers/campers as a good stop-over’.

Until the next visit thank you again and kind regards,

Ian and Sheila Follett

“The Western Australian chapter of the Australasian Touring Caravan, Motor Home & Camping Club came to Goomalling for a fun weekend. We stayed at the very friendly caravan park in town. The weather did not deter any of us. We had a ‘happy hour’ with a few introductions to new faces. On Friday night the ladies were invited to a fashion show at Lareema Fashions. We had a wonderful time. Margaret and her husband were great hosts. We were joined by some of the local ladies. Three local ladies and a friend of Margaret’s were superb models. They strutted the cat walk displaying a variety of outfits for us to view. After the show we were invited to participate in a tasty supper. Some delightful purchases were made.

The men were not left out. They went to the Farmers Club where they enjoyed fish and chips for tea. Thanks Goomalling for a wonderful night.

On Saturday morning we visited the local museum, where Harold and Jan Forward gave us the guided tour and then off to Slater Homestead where we had a lovely Devonshire tea. Saturday afternoon gave us some free time in which to read, sleep, walk or watch TV.

Happy hour in the campers’ kitchen was followed by an entertainment evening using brain power and luck.

Some left on Sunday while others stayed on until Monday to enjoy lunch at the Railway Station. We are now looking forward to our week in Busselton.

Yours,

Cheryl Henry
