GARDENER/TOWN MAINTENANCE
The Shire of Goomalling is seeking an enthusiastic and suitably qualified person with relevant experience to take on the role of Gardener/Town Maintenance.
This is a full time position and remuneration package will be as per Level 5 (dependent on qualifications) Municipal Employees (Western Australia) Award 2021.
Reporting to Works Manager you will be responsible for:
- Maintaining a high standard of Parks and Gardens/Street infrastructure in the Goomalling town site.
- As part of the Works team, implement Parks and Gardens/Street infrastructure maintenance activities in the Shire.
Skills
Essential:
- Possession of a current C (HR preferred) class licence.
- Demonstrated understanding of Occupational Safety and Health principles and how to work within Equal Opportunity requirements
- Working knowledge of turf maintenance practices, reticulation installation and maintenance and chemical spraying operations
- Skills and experience safely operating horticultural machinery and other plant and equipment.
- Experience using hand operated tools and machinery.
- Possession of a White card/WHS competency card.
Desirable:
- Certificate in Horticulture
- Chemical spraying and handling certificate
- Basic Worksite Traffic Management and Traffic Controller certificate
- Previous experience working at a local government in the Works Section.
- First Aid and Resuscitation qualification

- Developing interpersonal and public relation skills to be able to communicate with the public.
- Ability to effectively communicate and work well as part of a team
- A desire to fully complete tasks to a high standard and show initiative in the workplace and be a “self-starter”.
The successful applicant will be required to undergo a Medical Assessment including Drug and Alcohol testing prior to commencement of employment.
