GARDENER/TOWN MAINTENANCE

 

The Shire of Goomalling is seeking an enthusiastic and suitably qualified person with relevant experience to take on the role of Gardener/Town Maintenance.

 

This is a full time position and remuneration package will be as per Level 5 (dependent on qualifications) Municipal Employees (Western Australia) Award 2021.

 

Reporting to Works Manager you will be responsible for:

  • Maintaining a high standard of Parks and Gardens/Street infrastructure in the Goomalling town site.
  • As part of the Works team, implement Parks and Gardens/Street infrastructure maintenance activities in the Shire.

 

Skills

                Essential:

  • Possession of a current C (HR preferred) class licence.
  • Demonstrated understanding of Occupational Safety and Health principles and how to work within Equal Opportunity requirements
  • Working knowledge of turf maintenance practices, reticulation installation and maintenance and chemical spraying operations
  • Skills and experience safely operating horticultural machinery and other plant and equipment.
  • Experience using hand operated tools and machinery.
  • Possession of a White card/WHS competency card.

 

                Desirable:

  • Certificate in Horticulture
  • Chemical spraying and handling certificate
  • Basic Worksite Traffic Management and Traffic Controller certificate
  • Previous experience working at a local government in the Works Section.
  • First Aid and Resuscitation qualification

  • Developing interpersonal and public relation skills to be able to communicate with the public.
  • Ability to effectively communicate and work well as part of a team
  • A desire to fully complete tasks to a high standard and show initiative in the workplace and be a “self-starter”.

 

The successful applicant will be required to undergo a Medical Assessment including Drug and Alcohol testing prior to commencement of employment.
