Community Development

The Goomalling community has a rich history of working together to give Goomalling a great range of facilities, activities and events. This website lists many of the sporting, culturaleducation and health groups and services currently available here. The Shire of Goomalling supports the local community in continuing to make Goomalling a great place to live and work. CDOs' roles cover art and culture, employment, health, sport and recreation, youth, business and sustainability and some of their duties include:

  • accessing competitive funding for infrastructure and programs
  • organising community events
  • enhancing community facilities
  • asking residents what they want and what the Shire can try to improve for them
  • letting our community know about opportunities (including grants, events and training)
  • increasing community participation
  • increasing our community’s skills, knowledge and opportunities
  • providing referrals to other organisations
  • engaging local leaders and communities
  • forming and strengthening partnerships between agencies
