Slater Homestead

The Historic Slater Homestead was the first development in the area, built in 1856 by George Slater.

The Shire of Goomalling acquired the iconic Homestead in 2000, and following completion of the Conservation Plan the Homestead was considered and entered into the State Heritage Register of Heritage Places. Restoration commenced in 2002 and the delightfully refurbished buildings are now open to visitors on weekends. 

The Iconic Stone Barn with its rustic charm offers a unique venue for Weddings, Special Occasions, Corporate Events or Family Gatherings, with a manicured lawn and gardens completing the picture. Wedding ceremonies can be held under the 150 years old Peppercorn Trees or in the other areas of the grounds, all providing a romantic backdrop to capture memories of your special occasion. 

Mary's Tearooms offers Devonshire Teas and light lunches, catering for small groups, with seating available for 16. Group bookings are encouraged. 

The Historic Homestead accommodation provides visitors with an 'early world experience' in the delightfully refurbished Double Room in the main homestead and the Queen Room in the old School Masters residence.
