We are a Waterwise Council

Council has officially signed the agreement with Water Corporation to become a Waterwise Council, which means Council will be auditing current facilities and processes in order to implement strategies to reduce water consumption.

Age Friendly Community Planning

The Shire of Goomalling is also taking part in the Wheatbelt Development Commission’s Creating Age-Friendly Communities in Small Towns Project, which aims to improve the level of age-friendly infrastructure, services and inclusion across 43 Local Governments in the Wheatbelt.

Mark Dacombe from Localise conducted an age-friendliness audit of our town recently to identify areas that can be improved or altered to better suit and support the current and longer term needs of the elderly population.

Home Owners Checklist

The Home Owner’s Checklist has been created to allow community members to assess the age-readiness of their own (or prospective) home environment. The checklist enables an assessment of the suitability of the home as the person/s get older.

An Age Friendly Home is one that anyone of any age can live in or visit comfortably. The information can also be used to provide more accurate information to local government housing surveys (if applicable).

The information contained within the checklist has been drawn from the Department for Local Government and Communities 'Age Friendly Housing Resource kit' (2012).
