Dietitian

Dietitians are university qualified health professionals. Dietitians provide practical nutrition/dietary advice to their patients specific to their lifestyle.

Dietitians can provide dietary advice for a range of conditions including:

  • Diabetes (type 2, type 1 and gestational)
  • Impaired glucose tolerance/Impaired fasting glucose
  • Cardiovascular disease (e.g. high cholesterol)
  • Weight management (weight loss advice)

The Wheatbelt GP Network Dietitian visits Goomalling every month for individual consultations. Appointments can be made by visiting your GP for a referral and booking at the Goomalling Medical Surgery.

Diabetes Educator

Diabetes Educators assist people to manage their diabetes and may discuss issues such as:

  • monitoring blood glucose levels,
  • medications and insulin
  • exercise
  • foot care
  • what to do when you are sick
  • the effects of food on diabetes
  • how to prevent complications from diabetes.

Anyone with type 1 diabetes, type 2 diabetes, Gestational diabetes, or pre-diabetes (Impaired Fasting Glucose, Impaired Glucose Tolerance) can benefit from seeing a Diabetes Educator. Consultations are free and people can be referred to the Diabetes Educator through their GP.

The Wheatbelt GP Network Diabetes Educator currently visits Goomalling monthly and consultations are held at the Goomalling Medical Surgery.
