Local government is a vital level of democracy and councils provide important services that community members and businesses rely on every day.

Elected members have a range of responsibilities and are able to make positive changes for their community and residents in their local area.

To nominate in a local government election, the candidate must be an Australian citizen over 19-years-of-age, be a resident, property owner or occupier in their district, and have completed the mandatory local government candidate induction.

Nominations for candidates open on 28 August and close at 4pm on 4 September 2025.
