Shire of Goomalling secured State Library of Western Australia Funding to enhance Goomalling Library
The Shire of Goomalling is pleased to announce two successful funding outcomes through the State Library of Western Australia’s Encouraging Promising Practice and Tech & Digital Inclusion grant programs. These investments strengthen the Goomalling Community Library’s role as an inclusive, future‑focused hub for learning, wellbeing, and digital innovation.

These projects strengthen inclusion, expand digital opportunity, and ensure the Goomalling Community Library continues to evolve as a safe, innovative, and future‑focused space for all residents. We are proud to deliver initiatives that support our young people, enhance wellbeing, and build long‑term community capability.”
Through the Encouraging Promising Practice program, the Library has received funding to establish a dedicated Sensory Nook, creating a quiet, low‑stimulation environment for reading, decompression, and independent learning. The space will feature a sensory pod chair, sensory egg chair, noise‑cancelling headphones, children’s headphones, sensory floor tiles, and iPads equipped with accessible learning applications. The Sensory Nook will support neurodivergent patrons, individuals with sensory processing sensitivities, people experiencing anxiety, and families seeking a calming environment for children.
In addition, the Library has been awarded funding through the Tech & Digital Inclusion program to establish the GO.CREATE Lab, a maker space designed to create new digital learning and creative technology capabilities for the community. The project will introduce a Bambu H2C 3D Printer and Laser Combo, accessories and filament, two Lenovo laptops, a Cricut 4 machine, accredited staff training, and safety signage—providing equitable access to emerging technologies, digital tools, and creative fabrication equipment for residents of all ages.
The GO.CREATE Lab will deliver hands‑on learning opportunities in 3D printing, digital design, creative fabrication, and practical life skills, building long‑term capability and resilience. The Lab will strengthen STEM education opportunities by enabling project‑based learning, prototyping, and digital fabrication activities. Community members will benefit from structured workshops, open maker sessions, and intergenerational learning opportunities, with plans to extend the program to incorporate traditional lost skills such as mending, sewing, repairing, and upcycling.
