The Shire of Goomalling is delighted to announce that our project GO Circular – Be a GREAT Sort has been awarded funding through the WasteSorted Community Education Grants 2025–26 program. We have received $24,077 (excl. GST) to deliver a range of initiatives that will inspire positive waste behaviour change across our community.
This grant will allow us to roll out several hands-on and practical projects designed to make waste reduction and recycling easier, more engaging, and more effective for everyone in Goomalling.
Project Highlights
- Community Garden Composting Hub & Education We’ll establish a composting hub at the Goomalling Community Garden, paired with workshops to help residents learn how to turn food scraps into rich compost for local gardens.
- Textile Recycling through the Op Shop Our local Op Shop will expand its role in textile recycling, giving unwanted clothing and fabrics a second life instead of sending them to landfill.
- Keep Cup Incentive at Lot 39 Store & Café To reduce single-use coffee cups, Lot 39 will introduce a keep cup incentive program, encouraging customers to bring their own reusable cups.
- Worm Farming Demonstrations with Wormshed Partnering with Wormshed, we’ll host demonstrations on worm farming, showing how households can recycle food waste into nutrient-rich castings for gardens.
- Urban Evolution Workshops A series of interactive workshops will explore sustainable living practices, helping residents adopt circular economy principles in everyday life.
- Improvements to the Goomalling Refuse Disposal Facility
